Description
Dutch Colonial Silver Ceremonial Rice Spoon, possibly Sumatran, a large hollow-handled silver "Palambang", apparently unmarked, the large bowl on a shaped handle with elaborate repousse decoration and chasing. Weight: 5.08 ozt; 13" L x 3.5" W x 3" D. Provenance: Property from the Manhattan estate of Indrani Yogasundram who lived in many different countries with her husband, Yogaraj, during his decades-long career as a Sri Lankan diplomat. In addition to the heirloom jewelry she possessed, Indrani acquired jewelry, art, and ornaments while stationed in China (1960-63), Sri Lanka (1963-65), and Iraq (1965-1967).
